Zurich North America is currently looking for an experienced Underwriting Portfolio Manager to join our property portfolio team which manages various segments within the U.S. Property Lines of Business. This position will be responsibilities for P&L, rate and retention and catastrophe accumulation management as well as referral authorization, and implementation and development of underwriting actions and guidelines as warranted based on results.

This position can be located in one our Zurich offices.

High Level Influencer Externally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on influencing or negotiating with internal and external contacts on strategic impact matters. Relationships typically involve persuading or countering opposition, often with vendor representatives or senior management level customers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing and implementing business strategies to meet segment objectives.

  • Drive segment strategies through field office network.

  • Provide a consistent and clear communication on business strategies, profitability objectives, priorities and accountabilities.

  • Evaluate and communicate key underwriting/marketplace issues to peer and senior management staff.

  • Conduct segment analysis to ensure profitability and growth of business.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Management or Underwriting or Broker or Carrier or Market Facing area within the Commercial Insurance industry

  • Knowledge of Property product lines and insurance industry

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage complex portfolios

  • Technical knowledge of insurance operations and functions

  • Property lines experience

  • Strategical component of assessing/anticipating market environment

  • Knowledge of loss trends, triangles, and ratemaking

  • Ability to quantify risk and experience with forecasting methods

  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment

  • Coaching and mentoring experience

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Ability to interact with the C-Suite

  • Knowledge in risk selection & assessment
