Zurich North America is currently looking for a Data Science Director for our Predictive Analytics team based in our Schaumburg, IL Headquarters. This role has broad responsibilities across Predictive Analytics, encompassing operations, stakeholder management and project stewardship. The role reports to the Lead Data Scientist.

Responsibilities:

  • As a senior member of the Data Science team, the Data Science Director will play an important role in various strategic aspects of the Predictive Analytics organization, such as working with the business to generate and prioritize projects, and determining how Zurich can best develop and leverage the latest data science technologies and capabilities.

  • The role will also manage important operational aspects of the Predictive Analytics organization, such as project staffing and team training.

  • The role will manage multiple inflight and deployed models, providing guidance to project teams on topics such as strategy, stakeholder management and business problem solving.

  • The Data Science Director manages and grows senior stakeholder relationships.

  • Managing and developing a team of 6-8 data scientists.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Project Management areaAND

  • 3 or more years of people management and development experience

  • Predictive Analytics, Data Science or Actuarial experience

  • Experience at multiple levels in insurance industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of tools, concepts, methodologies and techniques of business process reengineering, change management, performance metrics and measures, customer assessment, cost/benefit analysis, benchmarking, process mapping/simulations, data collection and problem identification

  • Previous strategy and stakeholder management experience

  • Knowledge of existing and emerging data science technologies and how those technologies can be used to improve insurance business processes

  • Extensive broad-based knowledge of insurance industry including detailed knowledge of insurance business processes
