BC & IT, Customer Distribution & Underwriting Services Intern (Summer 2019)

Zurich is currently looking for an Intern, to support our BC & IT, Customer Distribution and Underwriting Services team out of our Schaumburg, IL offices.

This intern will work under immediate supervision and perform requested tasks alongside professionals who perform these roles. Generally this position is part of a summer program with an assigned mentor.

Primary project you will work on:

  • Underwriting Desktop enhancements and compliance related cases

  • DMS Re-write

You will learn, Business Analysis:

  • Assist with activities with business owners to gather requirements

  • Assist with identification and recording detailed requirements from business owners through interviews, documentation and facilitated working sessions

  • Document detailed functional and non-functional requirements

  • Use requirements management tools and techniques such as Use Cases, Data Matrix, Process Flow Diagrams, Quality Center, etc.

  • Support development, testing, implementation and training activities.

  • Assist with establishing and maintaining appropriate communication and engagement with managers and business owners

Other development opportunities, Quality Assurance:

  • Analyze system and business requirements for testability, derive test cases and test data

  • Facilitate the development of the test strategy and test cases

  • Participate in conceptualizing, organizing and planning quality assurance activities to support test design, development, automated and manual testing, and execution

  • Perform test readiness reviews and requirements sessions with business analysts and developers

  • Understand the insurance business area and system requirements

  • Develop test procedures and test cases based upon written requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelors program and will be enrolled in the fall of 2019

  • Two or more years of college coursework (should be a rising Junior or Senior) and no prior years of experience required in the Administrative area

  • Minimum cumulative current grade point average of 3.0 (current could mean last semester GPA)

  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S indefinitely

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate with different levels of organization and tailor approach according to the audience

  • Experience working with the MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Strong math skills

  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively as part of a team
