Zurich is currently lookingfor a Workers’ Compensation Trial Attorney II to work out of our North Americanoffices in Pasadena, California.

The Workers’ Compensation Trial Attorney, with moderatedirection, engages in the practice of law and the protection of Zurich’sinsureds and their interest in litigation.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Achievingbest outcomes for clients by demonstrating technical excellence in casehandling, trial preparation and presentation for matters of moderate technicalcomplexity

  • Drivingpositive results by correctly applying the law and legal trends, conductinglegal analysis and research, preparing legal pleadings and documents, preparingfor and managing pre-trial discovery, and participating in judicial oradministrative hearings and trials

  • Documentingcase files by accurately capturing and updating relevant information incompliance with best practices

  • Workingto have a timely resolution to matters by collaborating with the claimsadjuster, developing a case strategy and escalating issues as appropriate

  • Ensuringcustomer service to clients by proactively communicating information;responding to inquiries; and following customer protocols

  • Withoversight, determining and implementing alternative dispute resolutiontechniques as appropriate, by using effective mediation and negotiation skillswithin authority limit

  • Maintainingprofessional and technical knowledge by participating in educationalopportunities, staying current with industry trends, establishing personalnetworks and participating in professional societies

  • Contributingto the team effort by accomplishing related results and collaborating onmatters as needed

  • Ensuringlegal compliance by following state and federal laws and regulations

  • Servingas a technical resource by providing guidance and mentoring lower levelattorneys or legal support staff on use of tools and resources and legalstrategies

  • ProtectingZurich’s reputation by keeping claims information confidential

Basic Qualifications:

  • JurisDoctor and 5 or more years of experience in the Litigation areaAND

  • Memberof the Bar in good standing in jurisdiction(s) in which practice is located

  • Experiencewith Microsoft Office and Adobe

  • Experienceworking with Lexis Nexis

  • Knowledgeof the insurance industry, claims and the insurance defense litigation legalenvironment

  • Knowledgeof the law and procedure

  • Experience in Workers’ Compensation defense
