Senior Pricing Actuary


Zurich has an open position for an experienced Sr. Pricing Actuary. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in the development of the portfolio from design, pricing through implementation.

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a relatively new player in the US market. As part of a small Pricing and Valuation team you will be responsible for developing and enhancing our range of Individual Life and Annuity products and ensuring that our ongoing portfolio is marketable, profitable and 2017 CSO compliant.

You will hold an actuarial qualification and, acting in an actuarial capacity, perform product development and pricing tasks as assigned, requiring minimal direct supervision, and perform more complex analyses under the supervision of more senior actuaries. You will also assist in the training of less experienced personnel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 5 or more years of actuarial experience that includes pricing and/or valuation experience in one or more of the key life product groups: Universal Life, Variable Universal Life and Term Life.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FSA

  • Knowledge of US Individual Life/Annuity Products and Regulations

  • Experience with actuarial modeling software such as Prophet, MG-ALFA or GGY Axis

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Strong organization skills

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Strong knowledge of Excel with VBA

  • Knowledge of database tools e.g. Access and/or SQL

  • Experience with programming languages such as Perl, SAS or C

  • Knowledge of US statutory reserving methods and guidelines, both current and upcoming; UL CRVM, XXX, AG38, VM20

  • Knowledge of IFRS reserving methods and guidelines

  • Knowledge of Embedded Value
