Zurich is currently looking for a Market Facing Underwriting Manager to manage the National Accounts segment for our E&O/Cyber team. This position is based in our New York Office. This is a highly technical and market facing position and requires experience with E&O and Cyber lines of business.

Client Externally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on delivering service to external clients and/or customers. Typically involves building relationships and promoting the company.

Our Underwriting Manager is responsible for:

  • Responsible for the evaluation, professional development, training and coaching of a team of 7 underwriters

  • Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities

  • Qualify accounts to meet with the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity

  • Negotiate Terms & Conditions and close deals

  • Cross-Sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account

  • Participate in Sales Team meetings as related to assigned brokers and/or territory

  • Provide continuous coaching on sales best practices

  • Develop strong broker and client networks as related to industries underwritten by Business Unit

  • Monitor Sales Funnel and Production Metrics of team

  • Monitor and identify market trends, coverage exposure, and rate change developments

  • Maintain current distributor and key customer relationships as well as the development of new relationships

  • Build productive internal relationships with support service partners

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

  • Experience within Management Solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Advanced knowledge of Management Solutions Lines Of Business

  • Ability to manage and build rapport with team

  • Excellent organizational, written, oral communication and presentation skills

  • advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory guidelines

  • 6 months or more of supervisory or management experience

  • Established Producer relationships

  • Advanced skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating

  • Strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation
