Zurich is seeking a successful Sr. Workers Compensation DefenseAttorney to work out of their home in Louisiana.

This Attorney will be responsible for representing the Company inall phases of Workers Compensation litigation, practicing law in compliancewith ethical standards as established by state law by preparing and defendingWorkers Compensation cases from a challenging and varied caseload. Theywill be responsible for handling cases for districts 1-5 in the Northern andSouthern parts of the state.

Responsibilities will include working directly with claimsprofessionals providing legal analysis and advice, preparing and filing legalpleadings and documents, performing legal research, preparing for andconducting pre-trial discovery, preparing for and handling trials before theworkers’ compensation board, and conducting post-trial activities whereappropriate. Under limited direction, the attorney will work within broadlimits and authority on highly complex assignments requiring specializedknowledge in breadth and/or depth in area of expertise.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor and 7 or more years of experience in the Workers’ CompensationLitigation areaAND

  • Member in good standing of the Louisiana State Bar

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe

  • Experience working with Lexis

  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance defenselitigation legal environment
