Legal Secretary - Fort Lauderdale
We are looking to add a Legal Secretary to our fun, fast paced Staff Legal Office in Fort Lauderdale.
This experienced team member will be responsible for supporting our General Liability Attorneys who represent our commercial insureds. This dynamic office handles moderate to high exposure cases from a challenging and varied caseload. The right person will be an important asset to the team!

The ideal candidate will be able to engage and support the practice of law, at all times in compliance with the ethical standards as established by the national/local area of practice.
The ideal candidate will have a high sense of urgency, will be proactive, have insurance defense experience to provide a broad range of secretarial, administrative and clerical support such as legal and document research; drafting legal documents, correspondence of moderate to high complexity; maintaining and updating electronic and paper files; monitoring case schedules and filing deadlines; interacting with clients, attorneys and experts.
Must be familiar with state civil practice laws and rules. Must have experience in electronic filing with the various court systems.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Legal Secretary area within the Insurance industry
- Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Legal Secretary area within the Insurance industry
Experience drafting legal documents and correspondence
Experience providing administrative support to one or more attorneys
Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
Insurance industry legal support experience in General Liability
Ability to effectively draft complex legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology and legal document formats
Highly effective written and verbal communication; ability to summarize information clearly and concisely
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with litigation management software systems
Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines for multiple, simultaneous projects
